Practicing figurative painting ranging in style from classical to minimalist/bordering on abstract, the artist pursues the expression of elusive psychological aspects of human perception. Deceptive simplicity of her subjects - still life, landscape, human or animal figure - represents a deliberate isolation of the point she intends to make. Expertly using exquisite color palette, impeccably balanced composition and refined technique, AnnaMir creates a strong emotional impact of profound spirituality and aspiration towards the infinite.
The new series "The Spirit of a Scape" is an exhibition of acrylic paintings by AnnaMir. The images are medium-scale land and seascapes representing the real places in California, Hawaii, France, Australia and Italy. Fusion of traditional painting technique and heavy textures creates a style that appeals to a broad range of viewers.
While the subject may appear simple, the effect is complex. The maxim “less is more” is evident in the way AnnaMir skillfully keeps her work devoid of banal, insignificant and trivial. Every painting is pared with a haiku poem, several written by the artist.
“In this series I was trying to explore the principles of Zen Buddhist perception of life, taking inspiration from haiku the poetry of Zen”, says AnnaMir. “A haiku is like a vortex of energy; a haiku moment is a moment of absolute intensity in which the poet’s grasp of his intuition is complete and the image he describes lives its own life. Using my own medium, I aspired to frame reality in a single instant that will lock the creator and the viewer into sharing the experience of tranquility and joy”.
AnnaMir is a Russian bourn San Franciscan, whose works can be found in art collections in Russia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Great Britain, USA and Australia. |
