This show will present the most recent works in Ilan’s use of oil on canvas; large gorgeous abstracts that convey great care and purposefulness in every element. Ilan achieves strong dimensional depth in the work developed in layers, each having a wholeness of their own. Emphasizing process over style each new work demands to be seen, seen as unique and whole.
“These paintings attempt to explore the interconnectivity of systems and networks and the nature of borders, real and imagined. It strikes me that all systems whether man made or natural are beholden to the same laws, the laws of nature. In these paintings, it is not my intention to illustrate these laws but for the pieces to serve as expressions of these laws.
In my work I am not ‘abstracting’ something so as to provide a personal perspective, rather I am acting as a participant to something that is by its very nature abstract and ever changing. ”
